8. There's A Love Triangle Subplot

The Rumour: A fairly convincing "leak" made back in the summer of 2016 suggested that there would be a love triangle subplot with both T'Challa and Erik Killmonger vying for the affections of T'Challa's childhood friend Nakia (Lupita Nyong'o).

The Truth: This one's a real eye-roller to even consider, so mercifully, it wasn't the case at all. In fact, there's barely any mention of romance in the movie at all, except for T'Challa and Nakia having a quick smooch at the end.

It's just as well, because with only an exception or two, most of the MCU's romantic subplots have been absolutely dire. If a movie as important as this traded in childish, played-out romantic slop, it could've caved-in the entire project. Phew.
