The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that production on the much anticipated Black Panther sequel will begin in July 2021 in Atlanta. Nothing has been set in stone yet regarding Chadwick Boseman's replacement or how the movie will handle his untimely real life passing at the tragic age of 43.

There have been rumors of Marvel digitally replacing him via CGI but they were debunked in the past few days. The only speculation remains that Leticia Wright's Shuri could play a major role and become the new Black Panther, just as it happened in the comics. Lupita Nyong’o, Winston Duke and Angela Bassett are also expected to return.

Narcos Mexico's Tenoch Huerta is in advanced talks to play one of the main villains. Black Panther 2 is still scheduled to hit theaters in May 2022 and will once again be directed by Ryan Coogler.

The first Black Panther movie, released in 2018, was a true hit at the box-office and became a worldwide phenomenon, transforming Chadwick Boseman into a real life superhero. The sequel will have to honor the legacy of the one and only King of Wakanda.
