To get back to Riri, she's obviously intended to be a spiritual successor to Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), what with her peerless intelligence, ahead-of-her-time ingenuity, and generally outspoken nature.

Despite being a 19-year-old college student, Riri is the one responsible for creating the vibranium-detecting tech adopted by the CIA, which she made not for money but for her metallurgy class in just a few short months with minimal resources.

It certainly has the same ridiculous, scarcely plausible energy and spirit as Tony Stark creating the prototype Iron Man suit in a cave with a box of scraps, that's for sure.
