Black Widow: 21 WTF Moments

21. The Opening Credits Drop A MAJOR Spoiler

The film begins with a flashback to Natasha and Yelena's youth, which then transitions into a stylised opening credits sequence that details how they were brought to the Red Room, set to an amusingly depressing cover of Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit."

It's a terrific sequence, albeit one which bafflingly leaves a spoiler hiding in plain sight, by dropping Olga Kurylenko's name in the cast list.

Given that Kurylenko having a role in the film was kept relatively quiet during production and she wasn't featured in any of the trailers, this made it incredibly easy to figure out that she would end up playing Taskmaster.

Considering how ingeniously Marvel Studios has misled fans in the past, it's pretty disappointing that they didn't just have Kurylenko go uncredited, because the second her name showed up in the credits, the suspense over Taskmaster's identity was obliterated for observant viewers.
