As Peter Weyland wrote of Eldon Tyrell in the aforementioned Easter egg statement, things "literally blew up in the old man's face" in Blade Runner. That's because Tyrell, the man sitting at the head of the all-powerful Tyrell Corporation in his LA citadel, was offed by Roy Batty, his own creation. This leaves the state of the Tyrell Corporation in doubt - was the company passed onto someone else, perhaps some lesser CEO who allowed the company fall into disrepute? Or would the corporation instead go from strength to strength and become even more powerful? Despite the time that's passed, expect the Tyrell Corporation to still cast a shadow over the Blade Runner sequel, whether that be down to Tyrell's reputation as an innovator or down to the fact that the corporation continues to have a hand in designing and producing replicants.
