Blade Runner Vs. Blade Runner 2049: Which One Is Better?

This is difficult to talk about simply because the original movie has had 35 years to stew in the public's consciousness, while the new movie is, well, the new movie.

Scott's film wasn't warmly-received upon release and only grew in esteem over the years, especially as superior alternate cuts were released, to the point that it's near-universally agreed to be one of the greatest sci-fi films ever made.

From the unique visuals to the aforementioned action, music and, of course, Batty's unforgettable death soliloquy, there are so many moments destined to endure as long as cinema exists.

2049 is disadvantaged right out of the gate by being a sequel and having to follow the act of what came before, but all things considered, it doesn't seem likely that many of the movie's ideas or dialogues are going to permeate pop-culture in the same way that the original did.

Winner: The original, without any doubt.
