Why does the threat of global domination by one party not frighten people anymore? Do they not dwell on what that could mean, how it would affect their daily lives? Has Hollywood cured the masses into believing that evil bent on world control is really just make believe fluff that ended with the cold war? It reminds you of an old saying. Those who don't know history are doomed to... something. The point is that Bond was full of villains back in the day that sought to control the entire world and what lied beyond it. Either with secret organizations like SPECTRE or SMERSH, through control of space and nuclear armament, or being the only one with enough money to fix problems. Every Bond villain must be theatrical in some sort of way to be good. Just take a look at Javier Bardem in Skyfall. However, Bond villains should also sometimes be grandiose. Just delusional enough to want to dominate the world like Blofeld did. It's a factor of Bond films that would be a lot of fun to see brought back in a new modern way.
