10 Movies That Just Got Cancelled
7. Live-Action Robin Hood Remake
Disney is in the midst of industriously remaking all of its animated classics in "live-action" form, and in April 2020 the Mouse House announced that a Robin Hood remake was in the works, with Carlos López Estrada (Blindspotting) set to direct.
We heard virtually nothing about this remake in the years that followed, even as other Disney live-action remakes were announced and released, and Estrada kept himself busy with an original Disney animation - 2021's Raya and the Last Dragon.
But in March the filmmaker finally offered an update on the long-gestating project, confirming that it had indeed been cancelled.
Estrada called his Robin Hood "dead, sadly," adding that he and his team had cooked up some "truly extraordinary music" for it, which he hoped he could find a way to repurpose into an original project.
There's a distinct irony here, that the traditional human Robin Hood has been so thoroughly done to death on-screen that a remake of the Disney animation, featuring a fox Robin Hood, seemed positively original by comparison. But it wasn't to be.
