20 Upcoming Film & TV Shows That Just Got Cancelled
17. Sam & Victor's Day Off
Because Hollywood is in a never-ending pursuit of IP to mine, of course Paramount wanted to try and make the Ferris Bueller's Day Off Universe a thing.
After a poorly received TV spin-off was aired and swiftly cancelled in 1991, it seemed like Paramount was perfectly content keeping Ferris Bueller a one-off - and that they did until 2022.
That year, the studio confirmed that a spin-off, Sam & Victor's Day Off, was in development for Paramount+ focused on the events of the original movie from the perspective of the titular valets who took Cameron's (Alan Ruck) father's precious 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder for a joyride.
Unsurprisingly fans of the original film couldn't muster much enthusiasm for a spin-off that reeked so thoroughly of desperation, and so few tears were shed when it was confirmed to be cancelled last December following the Skydance-Paramount merger. Nothing of value was lost.
