Seeing the overarching Candyman mythology collide together with a satisfyingly gory climax is one thing, but the film's final line of dialogue feels like an especially sharp capper to a film so thoroughly about the Black experience in America.

If this ends up being the full-on conclusion to the Candyman franchise - for now, at least - it's a fitting one, but if it does well enough at the box office to make a sequel possible, there's clearly plenty of in-built latitude for future stories.
