Marvel Studios have hired Anthony and Joe Russo to direct a sequel to last year's "Captain America: The First Avenger". The siblings previously helmed "Welcome to Collinwood" and "You, Me and Dupree" and worked on the comedy shows "Arrested Development," "Community" and "Happy Endings". Yeah we aren't exactly sure how they landed the gig of directing "Captain America 2" from their CV above, outside of the fact they would have likely come cheap for Marvel. Yes, despite making over a billion dollars in PROFIT from "The Avengers" and having tremendous success with the first film, Marvel Studios have somehow become incredibly tight-fisted with their wallets. As for "Captain America 2", the general understanding of the plot is that it will be a contemporary movie about Steve Rogers' (Chris Evans) quest to continue his affiliation with Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and S.H.I.E.L.D. and his struggles to embrace the modern world. And we suspect he will get that dance with a very old Peggy Carter after all. "Captain America 2", which is still untitled, will hit theatres on April 4th, 2014 and will begin production late 2012/early 2013.
