Captain America: Civil War - 10 Controversial Ways It Could End

8. Thunderbolt Ross Becomes The Red Hulk

It€™s been a long time since we last saw General Thunderbolt Ross and the timing of his inclusion certainly is curious. Any government-type character could have handled his role but they chose him. It could have simply been to make The Incredible Hulk feel more essential to the canon, but it€™s also possible they€™re bringing him back because of something big they have planned for the character.

In the comics, Ross becomes part of a super-soldier trial and ends up transformed exactly like the Hulk, but with the retention of his tactical mind. His main goals often involve seeking control to do what he perceives as right, using his strength to enforce his will.

The character in the comics had some mixed reception at first and he doesn€™t seem to be high on the list of characters worthy of a cinematic introduction. It would be great to continue to add to Bruce Banner€™s side of things but Rulk would be too big a distraction in a film that the Hulk does not even appear in.

It's also worth noting that, for what it's worth, Joe Russo said that the character would not appear. That doesn't mean Ross might not be starting a transformation by the end, or he's simply turning a different colour, or perhaps Russo was just outright lying to throw fans off the trail.
