Marvel are all about the crossovers, but it's still surprising that The Incredible Hulk supporting character Thunderbolt Ross is being brought back for Captain America: Civil War, especially when Mark Ruffalo has gone on record to say that the studio is saving the Green Goliath's next appearance for Thor: Ragnarok. While there are many ways Ross could factor into this story, him transforming into the Red Hulk would be the most surprising outcome. There's been a lot of talk about how much thinner William Hurt looked in the D23 trailer for the movie; could that be down to these transformations taking a toll on his body? It's certainly possible, and the moment where this seemingly frail and ageing veteran suddenly transforms into a massive Red Hulk would no doubt leave moviegoers speechless (and possibly even a little confused, especially if the Red Hulk is without a moustache a la his comic book counterpart). In Civil War, Iron Man unleashes a secret weapon in the form of a Thor clone. Cap's team are initially unaware of that of course, and they're left baffled when the God of Thunder not only mercilessly attacks them, but ends up blowing a hole through the chest of Goliath. Ross similarly being used as a secret weapon by one of these teams would be just as surprising, especially if he shows up in the middle of a battle and suddenly transforms. Sure, it would be a little weird and hard to explain, but there's no denying that it would be a surprise!
