Captain America; Civil War is getting closer and closer to breaking the all-important $1bn barrier at the worldwide box-office, after another strong weekend that saw it take $158m.

That takes its total to $940m already, making it the second highest-grossing film of the year so far, behind Disney's Zootopia/Zootropolis (the Mouse of House are having a very good 2016 so far).

It also makes it the sixth biggest superhero film of all-time, behind both Avengers movies, The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises, and Iron Man 3.

It shouldn't really come as much surprise to be fair, as if any film of 2016 seemed guaranteed to break a billion it was Civil War, with the presence of a number of Avengers in it, and very strong reviews leading in.

The other milestone this marks is the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a whole passing $10bn, over the course of 13 films, which is just insane money (and there's a lot more to come). The highest-grossing is the first Avengers movie, which raked in $1.5bn, while the lowest is The Incredible Hulk.

It's hard to see Civil War overhauling either Avengers film, but it could well beat Iron Man 3 to become the biggest non-Avengers movie to-date from Marvel. As for 2016, there doesn't seem to be much that could come close to beating it this summer, although Finding Dory will likely bring in another load of money for Mickey and co. The one film that might top it is Star Wars:Rogue One - and just who owns that franchise again?

What do you think will finish as the highest-grossing movie of 2016?Let us know in the comments.
