Hawkeye got quite a lot of attention in Age Of Ultron. Having been pretty much a supporting player in the first Avengers film, Joss Whedon gave him more of an arc in this one. He had a family, he had a farmhouse, he was just a guy with a bow-and-arrow and none of this makes sense! Given the surprising increase in the role, it seemed to be setting things up for a tragic end for cinema's 3rd favourite archer (after Legolas and Katniss, obvs). That would've been the case if it weren't for Quicksilver, who took the bullet for him. Literally. However, he's not out of the woods yet (seriously, how long are they gonna spend at that farm?!). He may have survived Ultron, but to kill him off now would be less predictable, and make it even more tragic, without drastically altering the state of things too much for the future.
