3. Expect 90s Pop-Culture References Galore

With Captain Marvel being set in the 1990s, it's safe to say there are going to be plenty of amusing references to period pop-culture, as should make the movie easy catnip to the millennial crowd.

This is made evident by an image of Carol Danvers wearing street clothes while on Earth, especially a Nine Inch Nails T-shirt, who of course hit peak popularity during the mid-90s.

While there's the risk of taking things a little too far or just dispassionately hurling Things You Know at the screen without any passion or intelligence, it's easy to trust Marvel to get this nostalgic element right.
