There've been rumblings for some time now about a potential all-female team-up movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and now Captain Marvel herself, Brie Larson, has confirmed her interest in such a project.

Word first came back in 2017, when it was revealed a number of MCU actresses had approached Kevin Feige about the idea, and last year Ant-Man and the Wasp's Peyton Reed backed the calls too. In an interview with Screen Rant, when asked about a female Avengers movie, Larson said:

"I'm scared and I don't know what the future holds either. I'm not let into those top-secret meetings, so we'll see. We'll see what happens. I love all the female characters so much. So of course like that's what I'm interested in. I'm super into an all-female Avengers movie. Yeah, I think that would just be, it would just be cool to see all of them interact together."

Crucially, that's not confirmation of anything happening or even being close to being in the works, but with so many of their stars interested you'd imagine Marvel will be listening. Larson's Carol Danvers is set to lead the MCU in the future, so if they're building around her then it increases the chance of them exploring this kind of project.

Marvel already have a number of plans up in the air, but if Captain Marvel is a big hit then they'll obviously be looking to do more with her character. Black Widow is getting her own film next year, while Scarlet Witch is getting a Disney Plus series, and it's likely we'll see Valkyrie again too (even beyond Avengers: Endgame). That's a lot of talent and some interesting characters to include in any team, all-female or not.
