10. Anna Boden & Ryan Fleck Direct, 7 Screenwriters Are Credited
For their first female-led solo movie, Marvel have also hired their first female director, with Anna Boden taking the reigns of the film alongside Ryan Fleck. Together the pair previously worked on Half Nelson, Sugar, and Mississippi Grind, with Kevin Feige stating the pair were hired because they would be able to focus on and elevate the journey of Carol Danvers amidst the spectacle.
As they have with all their movies, Boden and Fleck have contributed towards the screenplay of Captain Marvel too, but are among a total of SEVEN credited writers on the film.
Inside Out's Meg LeFauve and Guardians of the Galaxy's Nicole Perlman co-wrote the initial version, before scripting duties were passed on to Geneva Robertson-Dworet (Tomb Raider). When filming started, however, Marvel also credited GLOW duo Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch as screenwriters as well.
Also involved behind-the-scenes are cinematographer Ben Davis, who also shot Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Doctor Strange, and composer Pinar Toprak, who composed additional music for Justice League.
