Hot on the news that Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, Kirsten Dunst, Emma Stone, Alfred Molina, Jamie Foxx and Paul Giamatti are all seemingly on board for Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man: Far From Home follow-up, now comes word that another familiar face will be joining the action alongside Tom Holland’s Wall-crawler.

As first reported by MurphysMultiverse, Charlie Cox’s Daredevil is set to have a role in the currently filming Spider-Man 3. Cox played ol’ Hornhead for three seasons of his own Netflix show and also in crossover miniseries The Defenders.

With the plug pulled on all of Netflix’s Marvel shows – Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Punisher, and The Defenders – many feared for the future of these incarnations of some of Marvel’s greatest street level heroes. Fortunately, this new report cites multiple unnamed sources in claiming that Charlie Cox actually signed a deal several months ago to appear in Spider-Man 3. Given that Netflix’s Marvel shows take place within the backdrop of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, that means that Cox’s Guardian Devil exists in the same world and continuity as Tom Holland’s Spidey.

Of course, it’s worth hammering home to take any news like this with at least a small pinch of salt until an official confirmation is made by Marvel or Sony, but still, the thought of Daredevil joining three Spider-Men in their battle against a multitude of villains sounds fantastic.

At present, this to-be-titled next Spider-Man movie is set for a December 17, 2021 release.
