Chris Nolan 2017: 10 Movies He Might Direct Next

By Rob Leane /

1. Something Utterly Unpredictable

And finally, there€™s the distinct possibility that Christopher Nolan has something up his sleeve that none of us could guess. Maybe he€™s not revisiting one of his other films, or bringing back a thought-dead project, or joining a massive franchise like Bond, Batman or Star Wars. Maybe €“ and this would be quite exciting €“ Nolan is working on a lower-budget film, from an original idea that he€™s cooked up in between blockbusting behemoths. Equally, perhaps he has another original idea for a stunning visual spectacle that he wishes to see to fruition. There really are a lot of possibilities. Nolan€™s first film, Following, was an original concept that Nolan made with his own money. The idea for Memento came from a short story by Jonathan Nolan. The Prestige was based on a novel, by Christopher Priest. The Dark Knight trilogy borrowed from certain comics. Inception was in Christopher Nolan€™s head for eight years before reaching cinemas. Interstellar came from theoretical physicist Kip Thorne and film producer Lynda Obst€™s original idea. Essentially an idea for a Christopher Nolan film could come from anywhere. There could be a book on his shelf he€™s been meaning to adapt, or a scribbled note in a desk drawer that he€™s been trying to find funding for. We'll just have to wait and see.
