DC ComicsDC's New 52 reboot was controversial, to put it mildly. The total clean slate wiping of the company's 70+ year history got many fan's backs up, as decades of stories were thrown out the window, character development was set back to square one, classic plots were said to never exist and some characters even stopped existing, too. It did what it was supposed to do, though, to an extent: whilst it's debatable whether DC Comics became any easier for new readers to get into, since the relaunch of all of their titles the publisher has seen their sales increase greatly from the - admittedly - low point they were at beforehand. Since then the company has been rocked by any number of further controversies, some of which we've already been over in this article. A little birdy told us that DC might have a way of not only making up for those controversies but to also win back over fans they lost during the New 52 debacle, whilst also not going back on that huge editorial decision. Because if there's one thing Dan DiDio hates - other than marriage - it's admitting that he's wrong. That seems to be the purpose of the rumoured "DC Band Aid", anyway. Fun as it is to imagine, that's not the name of the supergroup of musical heroes they're putting together to write a charity single, but a reference to an actual band aid (or plaster to us Brits), but the rumoured title of a rumoured event that is rumoured to become less of a rumour and more of a reality at Comic-Con. From what we can discern from the totally unilluminating and unintelligible gossip that's being thrown around, the Band Aid will consist of "forty one shots from ten to fifteen writers, spread over two months", plus a weekly series, to bridge the gap between DC moving offices from New York City to Burbank, during which time all their regular titles will be packed away and in the back of a van, or something. No big deal, right? Well allegedly those one shots will be out of continuity, and possibly even taking place in the pre-New 52 continuity that people are still hankering for, and be written/drawn by a host of DC's existing stable, along with new and upcoming talent from indies and possibly even Marvel. Will we get told more about this at San Diego? There's further rumours to suggest that, and that there'll be another Band Aid-related announcement at the end of the year. If it even exists. Does it exist? Likelihood: Who Knows Any more
