5. Captain Marvel Is A 90s-Set MCU Prequel
One of the weirdest reveals to come from Marvel is that Captain Marvel will be set in the 1990s and therefore serve as a prequel to Iron Man, which of course kicked off the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The Skrulls will be the main villains and the film will also feature Nick Fury, with both eyes no less, but it's simply incredibly odd that Marvel Studios would kickstart their new female superhero origin story almost three decades in the past, especially if they plan to make good use of her in the present.
How will Brie Larson's not-aging be explained? Perhaps her being part-Kree will substantially slow down the aging process...or something.
