It Follows was one of the more iconic and unforgettable horror films of the 2010s, enough that fans continually questioned whether filmmaker David Robert Mitchell might pursue another film.

And in October 2023, it was finally announced that a sequel, They Follow, was now in development, with Mitchell and star Maika Monroe both returning.

Updates in the near-three years since have been relatively sporadic, though, even as Monroe has continued to express enthusiasm for Mitchell's script, which she believes will surprise many fans.

Between Mitchell being plenty busy with his new film The End of Oak Street and Monroe being an in-demand performer, scheduling conflicts have reportedly held up They Follow going into production.

However, back in March Monroe revealed that They Follow was officially shooting this summer, meaning that fans can probably expect to see it sometime in 2027.

Many horror sequels simply wouldn't survive a 13-year gap between movies, but It Follows has endured enough in horror culture that there's clearly still the hunger to go back there.
