18. "Get Away From Her..." - Alien: Romulus

Alien: Romulus was a rock solid entry into the sci-fi horror franchise for the most part, though it also received some fair criticism for leaning a little too eagerly on the series' existing iconography.

And this culminated in the extremely polarising moment where android Andy (David Jonsson) saves his surrogate sister Rain (Cailee Spaeny) from an attacking Xenomorph by shooting it to smithereens followed by the one-liner, "Get away from her... you bitch."

Cribbing Ripley's (Sigourney Weaver) immortal quote from Aliens wholesale was, to a lot of people, a step too far into the realm of lazy, desperate fan service.

Had Andy stopped at "get away from her..." the movie probably would've gotten away with it, but considering even actor David Jonsson looks like he's in abject pain during the line read, it's a moment that absolutely should've been cut.

Some will however argue that modern audiences are just a bit too grumpy about nostalgia-bait and it's all just a bit of kooky fun. Either way, it split the fanbase straight down the middle.
