20 Horror Movie Endings We Almost Got

19. Laurie Exiles Herself - Halloween Ends

Halloween Ends was an incredibly divisive finale to the mainline Halloween franchise, though at least committed to giving Michael Myers (James Jude Courtney) a concrete death from which he couldn't return, after being fed into an industrial shredding machine by Laurie (Jamie Lee Curtis).

In the aftermath, Laurie reunites with her estranged granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak), writes a memoir, and resumes her romance with Deputy Hawkins (Will Patton).

But director David Gordon Green actually shot several endings for the film, including one in which Laurie's act of killing Michael causes her to become imbued with his dark killing instinct.

And so, because Laurie realises that Michael's essence is now part of her, she decides to exile herself for the rest of her life to basically prevent his spirit from infecting anyone else.

Curtis said that it was "too dark and too profound to satisfy the hunger of this 40-year journey," and she's absolutely right - this would've made an already intensely polarising film even more contentious.
