David Fincher's upcoming projects

By Will Reynolds /

MTV, Fincher revealed the following:- He plans on revisiting FIGHT CLUB next year:-

"One of the things I want at the 10-year anniversary is to do "Fight Club" as a musical on Broadway. I love the idea of that."
His graphic novel adaptation TORSO may have a leading man:-
"That movie is so not a serial-killer movie. It's about the deconstruction of the myth of Eliot Ness. It has way more to do with "Citizen Kane" than it has to do with "Seven." Ehren Kruger wrote a script that's pretty great. We were speaking with Matt Damon about it."
Fincher will revisit sci-fi for the first time since ALIEN 3, by making Arthur C. Clarke's RENDEZVOUS WITH RAMA:-
"I'm waiting to get a script. It's my understanding that Lori and Morgan have a script, and when they're happy with it, they'll send it to me. It's a project I've always loved. It's probably technologically within striking distance right now. That was always the thing: You couldn't afford to build these things as sets. It's just too huge. "I think it's more along the lines of motion-capture. There's probably a week or two onboard the ship that you'd have to do the weightlessness and the landing before they get to Rama. We'd probably do it with some kind of performance-capture."
By the sound of it, Fincher was in the running to direct an early Brosnan Bond movie (has an American ever directed a 007 film?):-
"I actually talked about doing a Bond movie post-Timothy Dalton, I think just when they were getting Pierce Brosnan. Believe me, they didn't want to hear from me. The people that own that franchise have a pretty good idea of what they think it is. That was my problem with "Alien 3."I wanted to do something that nobody else wanted to do. They kept hoping that I was going to change my mind, and I kept hoping they would appreciate where we were going, and it ended up being a bloodbath."
Fincher is a director who I believe is operating at the very top of his game. His films pull you into the world he creates, then crawl under your skin and won't go away. ZODIAC, which I class not as a serial killer film, but as a journalist movie, is probably the best of its kind since ALL THE PRESIDENT'S MEN. FIGHT CLUB is probably the best film of 1999, and when you consider how great that year was (THE MATRIX, AMERICAN BEAUTY, TOY STORY 2...) then I'd call it the film of the decade. Of all the projects on his radar, RENDEZVOUS WITH RAMA is the most intriguing and ambitious. source - mtv
