DC Would Be Open To Going Even Darker With R-Rated Future Releases
Oh excellent, more darkness.
Good news, everyone: future DC comic book movies might be going even darker, even grimmer and even more brutal. Because that's what has worked so well so far.
After Fox scored two major hits with their last two R-rated movies - in Deadpool and Logan - it looks like Warner Bros and DC might have had their heads turned.
According to The Wrap a "well-placed insider" at Warner Bros (which could mean someone just inside the door, knowing the way rumours online go these days), DC Films' response to the possibility of making future R-Rated movies was fairly categorical:
"One hundred percent yes. With the right character(s)."
It's curious that they're so quick to leap on the news of Logan's success with a plan to emulate it, while fans would probably take up arms if they ever acknowledged that there might be some sense in following Marvel's lead when a successful MCU movie comes out. It's almost like they're in competition or something...
It's no bad thing though: imagine an R-rated The Batman from Matt Reeves (they won't do it, because Warner Bros couldn't sell as many toys), or The Rock's Black Adam being extra grown up? Or even that Lobo film we've all wanted for years... It's at least good to know that they're thinking about these things.
And just imagine how loud and obnoxious the Hans Zimmer soundtrack would have to be for those films...
