When Logan was released and Wolverine stole Deadpool's crown of best R-Rated comic book movie star ever, the Merc With A Mouth had to aim for some other accolade to make him feel better. By the look of the excellent first real trailer for Deadpool 2, he's set his sights on king of the trailers.
After an extended marketing campaign that has included Ryan Reynolds tweeting up a storm, a Bob Ross tribute and a delicously funny Flashdance-inspired poster, we've finally got a chance to see the sequel in action. And by God does it look good.
It's not just that the actual content of the movie is great either: the decision to frame the trailer as a vehicle for more fourth wall-breaking Deadpool hijinx is inspired, and it wouldn't be at all surprising if this ends up being watched an eye-watering number of times in the next 24 hours.
Full of Easter Eggs, jokes, swearing and profane children, this is how you do grown-up, hilarious trailers. And you're really going to struggle to not fall in love.
