2. The Satisfyingly Ridiculous Third Act
Easily the best part of the movie is the finale, when the buildup is done with and Branagh plunges headlong into the frothy murder-mystery silliness everyone paid their money to see play out.
The corpses quickly pile up as the central enigma becomes increasingly twisted, leading to a resolution which, while again perhaps predictable to some attentive viewers, is appropriately absurd all the same.
Beyond that, Branagh also circles back to Poirot's own personal arc in a gratifying way that even threatens to be unexpectedly moving.
And so, while the journey getting there occasionally feels a little too long and has a few undeniable hiccups, the payoff is satisfyingly over-the-top while paying firm tribute to Christie's sacrosanct source material.
