Deathstroke Is Coming To The DCEU, But In Which Movie?
Slade Wilson makes his entrance.
Who'd have thought you could release three films of increasing levels of disappointment and yet still manage to get the fanboy internet flipping out over a thirty second clip? Yet that's exactly what's happening with DC, who are still getting substantial hype for Wonder Woman, Justice League and beyond despite a disastrous 2016.
To be fair, the latest development for the Distinguished Competition is pretty exciting; yesterday Ben Affleck tweeted out an behind-the-scenes video that appeared to confirm Deathstroke is coming to the DCEU. Check it out below:
Given that Justice League is shooting now and Affleck was recently seen in London, it'd seem likely this comes from that team-up; the clip shows Deathstroke in what many are assuming is the teams base, pointing towards him infiltrating the gang's high-tech hub at some point as an ancillary villain.
However, the story led to serial leaker Umberto Gonzalez writing a story for The Wrap that said Slade was going to be the big villain of Ben Affleck's solo Batman film (can we get confirmation it's The Batman so we don't have to keep writing that), although take this extension with a pinch of salt. It came after the tweet with a single, uncited source and the post was mostly full of Wikipedia lifted info; there's nothing that I couldn't have made up there.
Still, as one of Bats' biggest villains to never be used on the big screen, it'd make sense, and there's every possibility that Affleck is working on prep for the film alongside Justice League. Expect more rumours (and maybe actual developments) in the coming months.
Justice League is in cinemas from 17th November 2017 and may or may not include Deathstroke.
