In case you missed the repeated imagery, Strange's hands are massively important to his backstory. As a surgeon they are his precision instruments and his tools of control. Robbed of them by his car accident he spirals into alcoholism and desperately seeks a way to restore their function.

It seems likely we'll see the same thing playing out in the film.

It wouldn't be at all surprising if we see this key panel from the comics re-enacted too...
