In one of the creepiest scenes of the film, Shaun finds his flatmate Pete zombified and buck naked in the shower. When Pete gets out the shower possibly angered that Eds going to drive his car Shaun pretends all is fine, whispering that theyre going to the pub, and hes more than welcome to join us He then flees. This is a reference to Raimis first two Evil Dead films, where the zombies are constantly asking protagonist Ash to join us. Ash, much like Shaun, refuses, and instead runs downstairs before making a break to the car to enact his crazy plan. Coincidentally, Wright admits on the DVD commentary that the medical cabinet sequence a moment before was inspired by a similar scene in An American Werewolf In London when David looks in a similar bathroom mirror.
