Edgar Wright: The Definitive Guide To Homages, Influences And References

By Edward Owen /

In the most obvious point on this list, the film€™s title €˜Shaun of the Dead€™ is a play-on-words from George A. Romero€™s 1978 zombie movie classic Dawn of the Dead, and features a similar plot about people being drawn to places with creature comforts to hole up. In Romero€™s film, it happens to be a mall, but in this film it€™s a pub. Ironically the film was released just several weeks after Zack Snyder's Dawn of the Dead remake. An alternate title for Edgar Wright's film was €˜Tea-time of the Dead.€™ Clearly, the other title has less of a ring to it.
