2. The Tense, Thrilling Second Half

Though the first half of El Camino in particular is sparse and deliberate, Gilligan does a fantastic job of progressively ramping up the tension in the second half.

Several nerve-shredding set-pieces are sure to leave audiences on the edge of their seats, given how many obstacles seemingly stand in the way of Jesse making an ultimately clean getaway.

Most of these sequences aren't anything we haven't seen before in the genre, yet the fanbase's protective feelings towards Jesse fill even the most familiar moment with a ton of agonising suspense.

That it's all shot for maximum boxed-in claustrophobia sure doesn't hurt either.
