Emily Blunt is the Young Queen Victoria

By Matt Holmes /

Emily Blunt who was fantastic in The Devil Wears Prada, is set to star in The Young Victoria. She will be playing the lead role of the 19th century Queen Victoria during her younger days and passionate romance with Prince Albert. Jean-Marc Vallee is set to helm. He directed the critically acclaimed small independent movie C.R.A.Z.Y. and this historical drama will mark his first movie into the mainstream. Graham King, who is producing the flick with his Initial Entertainment Group alongside Martin Scorsese said that Emily Blunt is "perfect to play this feisty, passionate young woman who went on to have nine children with the love of her life, Prince Albert." I saw Sofia Coppola's movie about the young French Queen Marie Antoinette at the weekend and I wasn't very impressed. Slow, tedious and nonsensical..... the movie has no reason to exist. It's an extremely self-indulgent film, which is a shame because I like Coppola's movies usually. This film has already scored one better than Coppola's film with the casting of Blunt who is a far better actress than Kirsten Dunst. source - coming soon, variety
