It took over 300,000 votes but Empire have finally revealed the two exclusive Batman and Bane covers from next month's The Dark Knight Rises special issue. My first thought and I'm sure it's yours too... just what in the heck is that device Batman is holding? It looks like some kind of external hard drive with a big blue raygun on the end, like something of the Red Skull's private weaponry collection in Captain America: The First Avenger that wiped his opponents out of existence. If you were following the voting then you will know that Bane unsurprisingly won the public count and was revealed first with Batman coming in shortly after. As I said before, fans are just desperate to see more of Bane and it's the comic book movie trend (and in some ways the James Bond saga too) that after the first time we've seen an actor portray Batman and his universe, the villains take center stage and our interest in the build-up lies with them. This is of course our second official look at Bane (i.e. the two stills in amongst of the 100's set photo/video leaks that Warner Bros do want us to see) and it's definitely the clearest. Note the skin on his right shoulder and the indents and bumps... this is a man, no a monster, that his skin doesn't even want to be a part of. Tom Hardy is going to give us a villain to remember here... he has huge shoes to fill coming so soon after Heath Ledger's legendary performance as The Joker but at this point we think Hardy can do anything and I'm certain he's going to nail it. Look at for the new Batman issue hitting stands soon. It promises a few more reveals.
