Eva Green Is Ava Lord In Sin City: A Dame To Kill For

By Matt Holmes /

Smoking hot casting news from Dimension Films tonight as Eva Green has been chosen to play the titular Ava Lord in Sin City: A Dame To Kill For. Co-directors Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller have lived up to the original comic's billing by choosing the ultimate screen femme fatale - the girl who got underneath Bond's skin more than any other lover in Casino Royale - to portray Sin City's "deadly muse", Ava Lord. Miller has described Ava as "every man€™s most glorious dreams come true, she's also every man's darkest nightmares" and she's certainly cut from the same cloth as Hedy Lamarr or Rita Hayworth. And as the voluptuous, screen goddess Green has never been one to shy away from nudity, we have no doubt she will live up to the kind of imagery fans of Frank Miller's work have come to expect. Rodriguez and Miller said of the casting;
"We've been wanting to tell this story for a very long time. Ava Lord is one of the most deadly and fascinating residents of Sin City. From the start, we knew that the actor would need to be able to embody the multifaceted characteristics of this femme fatale and we found that in Eva Green. We are ecstatic that Eva is joining us."
Green, who stars in this year's 300: Rise of an Empire , the prequel to Frank Miller's 300€ is the last of the major casting puzzles for the mammoth sized ensemble. Bruce Willis was confirmed for a return last week, joining Clive Owen and Jessica Alba as recurring characters Dwight McCarthy and Nancy Callahan respectively €“ though Owen will only appear in post-facial reconstruction scenes, with McCarthy being largely portrayed by Josh Brolin in the sequel. The film will see Dwight hunted down by the only woman he has ever loved, Ava Lord (Green), and will depict how he came to have a different face (and thus can be portrayed by two separate actors). Also returning are Mickey Rourke as €œMarv,€,€ Rosario Dawson as €œGail€ and Jaime King as €œGoldie/Wendy, with Dennis Haysbert taking over the role of Manute from the late Michael Clarke Duncan and Jamie Chung portraying Miho. Earlier today Julia Garner joined the cast as a young stripper named "Marcy". Much like its predecessor, Sin City 2 will be broken up into different chapters; A Dame to Kill For, Just Another Saturday Night and The Long Bad Night, set after Hartigan€™s suicide. The Long Bad Night will introduce Joseph Gordon-Levitt€™s original character €œJohnny€, which Rodriguez explained a bit about;
€œIt€™s a new character. He plays a gambler, a very cocky gambler, who comes in and tries to beat the biggest villain in Sin City at his own game. The story€™s called €˜The Long, Bad Night.€™ He beats the wrong guy in a game and bad stuff happens to him.€
Christopher Meloni, Juno Temple, Jeremy Piven and Ray Liotta also make up the cast. Already filming at Rodriguez€™s Troublemaker Studios in Texas, A Dame To Kill For will be presented in 3D upon its release later in October, and the director claims that it will €œblow our minds€.
€œWe€™re really playing with stuff because that€™s a very two dimensional world and to see that stylization in 3D, it€™ll blow people€™s minds. 3D hasn€™t been used like this yet.€
