17. Lex Luthor (Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice)

Like Jared Leto's Joker, fans are sharply divided on this one: was Jesse Eisenberg's performance overly mannered and frantic, or was it a welcome change from the broadly hammy villainy of previous portrayals?

Though Eisenberg's attempt wasn't blessed with the best script or most logical of motives, he basically did a solid job with what he had, creating a distinctly unique take on the character that's like nothing else out there.

His performance won't be for all tastes, but it was a refreshing change from the norm, and if the character is written a little more consistently in future, Eisenberg could easily win over his nay-sayers.
