12. Rebirth

Though it touts an interesting premise evidently inspired by at least two David Fincher movies (though saying which two just might be a spoiler), Rebirth eventually loses itself amid an increasingly ridiculous narrative that's just nowhere near as good as the films it's so blatantly trying to ape.

Fran Kranz does a totally solid job in the lead role, but this one's sorely lacking in the direction department and never really finds a consistent tone: is it satirical or just a straight-up thriller?

It's not without some engaging moments but ultimately doesn't add up to as much as writer-director Karl Mueller clearly thinks it does.
