12. Ewoks III

No, that ‘III’ mark isn't a typo. It may come as a shock to some that not one, but two Ewok films were released direct-to-television, based on stories by George Lucas. The films focus on the Towani family stranded on Endor, facing against dangerous creatures that inhabit the forest moon. Even Warwick Davis returns as Wicket in both direct-to-TV instalments.

The two films cater to a younger audience’s appeal, despite a pretty graphic genocide in the second film. However, human characters having to repeat most of what the Ewoks are saying can become tedious, and the acting isn’t exactly Oscar-worthy.

So, what happened to the third film? In truth, nobody knows. Warwick Davis revealed in the 1980s that a sequel with the working title ‘Ewoks III’ was in development. Daniel Frishman, another prominent Ewok cast member, said in a 2010 interview that he’d never heard about a third instalment. Perhaps it isn’t the end of the world that it didn’t come to light…
