Though he said for a while that he wouldn't debut as Black Adam in his own movie, The Rock now concedes that the film could start filming in 2019:

“The script came in, it’s great, we’re working on it. We’re very excited about it. If things come together in the way we anticipate them coming together, that feels like a 2019 movie in production.”

Johnson says he wants to make sure the film really "nails the tone" and makes Black Adam the badass he needs to be, which is exactly what fans of the character will want to hear.
