When he was hired for Suicide Squad, it looked like Will Smith would get a chance of his own solo Deadshot movie. A star of his magnitude would surely justify it, after all.
Unfortunately, since then talk of a Deadshot movie has all but disappeared entirely and a report by Discussing Film even suggested the project had been scrapped altogether:
"Exclusive: Will Smith is not attached to star in a Deadshot solo film with his next appearance as Deadshot most likely to be in Suicide Squad 2 which is said to film next year."
Will It Happen?
It doesn't look good. Anyway, Warner Bros need to stop with their apparently obsessive need to make villain-led movies in the DCEU. Villainy is very much half of a binary relationship and having them without the heroes that give them definition is just a good way to lose some of what makes them appealing in the first place.
So maybe it's not the worst thing if this doesn't happen.
