11. The Dursleys

The Dursleys are always the best way to open these films.

Petunia is a shrewd and cruel woman. Her 'pursed lip angry face' is delightfully silly. She has the least to do of the three, but still makes an impression.

Dudley is a big dumb bully who can't bear the thought of getting less than 37 birthday presents every year. He's what you would expect from a spoilt bully, but Harry Melling puts his all into it. This role started Melling's path to becoming one of the most exciting upcoming talents in Hollywood.

Finally, Vernon. The man is infinitely entertaining. Whenever Richard Griffiths appears on screen as Vernon, he's effortlessly engaging. The noises he makes are infectious. Despite being such a horrible chap, he's great fun, and steals the show in every scene.

Despite being fairly inconsequential, The Dursleys never fail to entertain.
