Every M. Night Shyamalan Movie Ranked From Worst To Best
2. Unbreakable (2000)
Long before superhero movies were an expected part of a studio's movie slate, Shyamalan turned in his own spin on the subject that remains one of the most daring and inventive to date.
Samuel L. Jackson and Bruce Willis give magnificent performances as two men on opposite ends of the spectrum, one fragile and eccentric, the other possibly supernaturally tough yet down-to-Earth.
Shyamalan drip-feeds suspense and intrigue here right up to a third act that, while not quite as assured as what came before, is still ludicrously entertaining and set the stage for a sequel that, to date, still hasn't emerged (though certainly could soon enough).
As a meta-superhero movie with a ton of clever nods to the genre, it's the director's most interesting film even if it's not quite his outright best...
