26. Dormammu – Doctor Strange

Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer AND Green Lantern both already proved a few years ago that having a big shapeless villain made of VFX is a problem for comic book movies. Those films are both terrible for far more reasons than that, but there was evidence there.

Doctor Strange just ignored that evidence though and brought huge demonic presence Dormammu to the table and the results weren’t great. He’s like a drug-addict’s fever dream with a strange ribbed-for-no-one’s-pleasure face and he’s only in the film at all to set up the (really good) timeloop twist.

He’ll probably return in future Strange movies, but hopefully Marvel will give him more actual depth next time.
