13. Neo Vs Bane (The Matrix Revolutions)

As Neo and Trinity make their way to Machine City in The Matrix Revolutions, they discover Bane has stowed away on their vessel. As he attacks Trinity, Neo realises Bane is possessed by Agent Smith.

As Smith is about to blast Neo to death with a laser gun, Trinity turns off the lights, giving her partner a moment to dive out of the way. As he scuffles with the diabolical agent on the floor, Smith shoves an electric cable into Neo's face, incinerating his eyes. Even though he is seemingly blind, Neo's powers activate, allowing him to see and defeat this incarnation of Smith.

Because this battle doesn't take place in The Matrix, it lacks the high-flying martial arts we've come to expect. But that doesn't mean it's a bad idea. Forcing Neo to face his nemesis without the aid of his powers makes the stakes much higher.

Sadly, the fight is ruined since it takes place in flickering darkness so we can barely see what's happening. This style was probably done to make the fight more chaotic but it was a bad decision.
