10. Rhino (Amazing Spider-Man 2)

It's easy, and very convenient, to forget that a lot of things from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 ever happened, and that includes Rhino's fleeting appearances.

Spidey's encounters with Aleksei Sytsevich may bookend the movie, but his role is so inconsequential that he was almost nixed from this list.

Maybe it's Paul Giamatti's cringeworthy Russian accent, botched attempts at slapstick comedy or the fact his suit looks like it was lifted from a Transformers salvage yard, but something about this incarnation of Rhino just doesn't sit right.

One also has to ask whether Amazing Spider-Man 2 would have suffered if Sytsevich was cut from the movie. It may even have benefited, given that one of its biggest problems was a script overstuffed with bad guys and sequel setups.

Maybe his presence could have been justified if Spidey had actually fought him properly in the film. Instead, we were left guessing whether Rhino's armour can stand up to a manhole cover to the face as the end credits rolled.
