Toy Story 3 worked so well because it served as such a touching conclusion to the tale of its anthropomorphic playthings.

So obviously Toy Story 4 is happening.

That alone gives reason for doubt, and yet Pixar - while their success with other prequels/sequels has been mixed, and the non-cinematic Toy Story releases considerably more so - haven’t put a foot wrong with this franchise on the big screen.

They’ve earned an element of trust, at least, and with all the gang coming back together for another journey (this time to find Bo Peep) it’s once again going to be a big winner with its own particular mix of humour, nostalgia, and emotion.
