32. The Sword In The Stone

Status: Scripting.
As another step in Disney's wide-ranging manifesto to remake as many of their movies as possible, they're also developing a big screen remake of The Sword In The Stone, with Game Of Thrones writer Bryan Cogman working on the script.
Presumably, he'll tone down the sex and the violence, but the idea of a classical live action take on the magic and swords origin story is a pretty good one.
31. Mulan
Release Date: 2nd November, 2018
Status: Casting (and trying to avoid racial controversies, no doubt).
After years kicking around in development (since 2000 in fact), the live action Mulan remake will finally land in 2018 from Niki Caro. It might not have music (though that seems unlikely), and it hasn't yet got a cast, but at least the rumours of Jennifer Lawrence starring proved to be wrong.
Expect an all Chinese cast as a first in Hollywood, and expect a great script, as it's coming from the Jurassic World screenwriting team of Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver. As long as they retain Mushu, they can do what they want.
