There are lots of reasons to hate the Chipmunks movies for, but their influence making anyone at Disney think a Chip 'N Dale live action movie is a good idea is the least welcome.
Apparently, commercials director Robert Rugan pitched successfully, and is writing an origin story, of sorts. Unfortunately.
47. Fantasia

Talk about unnecessary: the original hand-drawn classic - and even its sequel - were seminal releases, with the medium really reflecting an artistic agenda to bring the music to life.
As a live-action story, it makes no sense, but at least they are focusing on the most cinematic of the original segment: the Night on Bald Mountain closing sequence featuring the demon Chernabog, who summons ghosts and monsters to terrorise the night. But even then, it's hard to see how it can truly be a Fantasia movie and not just a Chernabog one.
